New Poster Released for Wes Anderson’s Grand Budapest Hotel

Everyone loves Wes Anderson, right? He wrote and directed Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, The Royal Tenenbaums, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, The Darjeeling Limited, and Moonrise Kingdom. Not a dud in the bunch. So when he has new movie coming out, we anticipate it with rapt enthusiasm, so much so that we get excited when the producers drop a new poster.

The Grand Budapest Hotel is about a concierge (played by Ralph Fiennes) at the titular hotel and the young protégé (played by Saoirse Ronan) he takes on. According to Fox Searchlight Pictures, the movie, “involves the theft and recovery of a priceless Renaissance painting, the battle for an enormous family fortune and the slow and then sudden upheavals that transformed Europe during the first half of the 20th century.”

I can’t say the premise sounds instantly intriguing, but it’s Wes Anderson. We’re all but assured an interesting story with fun characters and a quirky, engaging aesthetic that complements said story. Oh and not to mention a top notch cast, which this time includes, in addition to Fiennes and Ronan, Edward Norton, Jude Law, Owen Wilson, Tilda Swinton, Willem Dafoe, Tom Wilkinson, Adrien Brody, Jeff Goldblum, Harvey Keitel, F. Murray Abraham and Bill Murray. I mean, come on, right?

All right, I’m going to drop the charade for a moment. I don’t think everyone loves Wes. He has particular sensibilities that I imagine turns some people off. All I have to say to those people is you’re wrong and I’m right. Wes is great.

The Grand Budapest Hotel is slated for release in 2014, date to be announced. Today we have the poster to hold us over. On Thursday the 17th, we get the trailer. So stay tuned.
