What’s it about? “Over the course of his summer break, a teenager comes into his own thanks in part to the friendship he strikes up with one of the park’s managers.” —IMDB
Who made it? Written and directed by Nat Faxon and Jim Rash.
Who’s in it? Steve Carrell, Sam Rockwell, Amanda Peet, Toni Collette, Maya Rudolph, Rob Corddry, Nat Faxon, Jim Rash and Liam James.
When’s it coming out? July 5, 2013.
Why do I want to see it?
- Because Sam Rockwell is in it. Woohoo!
- Because Steve Carrell is playing a jerk, but this time not a lovable jerk like Michael Scott. I want to see if Steve really can really be unlikable.
- Because Jim Rash is one of the writers. You may recogdean him as the Dean on the TV show Community. He’s only written one episode of Community, so I don’t expect the humor in this movie to be similar to the show, but Jim and Nat Faxon were co-writers on The Descendants, which wasn’t great, but was at least entertaining.
How much do I want to see it on a scale of 1 to 5?
I saw a really good coming of age movie last year called The Perks of Being a Wallflower. That trailer intrigued me more than this one does, but I’m a fan of the adult supporting roles in this movie, so I’d see it mostly for them.
And the trailer?
Anything else? How about a link to The Perks of Being a Wallflower in case you want something to watch while you wait for The Way Way Back to come out.
